Maja Nimmon | 50 Years Young And Fabulous | Cary, North Carolina Photographer
First I want to say a big thank you to Maja Nimmon for trusting me and the team with the opportunity to capture her amazing milestone. I hope when I reach this beautiful milestone that I look this fabulous :-).
All these images were captured at Waverly Place in Cary, NC. I have never created images at this location, this site was chosen by Maja. For the most part I generally don't care where I photograph because the only thing that matters to me is the light on my subject and not my background. Obviously if you have a terrible background then lens choices and creative cropping would need to be consider in order to eliminate certain distractions, but for this location I didn't have that problem.
On the day of the photoshoot it was very cold and overcast. It was so cold that I couldn't feel my fingertips, but I had it easy compared to Maja who had to take her jacket off in the cold weather, she was amazing. Overcast conditions are typically great for photography because it's akin to a big softbox. However; for me the lighting conditions are very boring as it flattens out the image. To help add some depth and dimension to the image I introduced off camera flash.
Typically I would go into providing some more details about the photo session and quote where I can the client's feedback about their session. However, Maja provided such an awesome detailed testimonial that I couldn't just take a single quote, I had to take her entire feedback and quote it in it's entirety below. I am seriously humbled, Maja thank you so much, I had such an amazing time creating these images. Now lets here from Maja:
I wanted to do this photo shoot because I wanted to do something special for family and myself. For years, I had taken my birthdays for granted and seldom celebrated them at all. Look how quickly the time passed by! For my fiftieth year, I wanted a positive way of remembering what I looked like when my golden years began. I wanted something over-the-top! It had to be classy and glamorous—yet totally unexpected! I wanted my kids to be proud of their mom.
If I remember correctly, I found Ernesto Sue by doing a random Google search. I think I typed in “Cary photographers, photo shoot” or something like that. When Ernesto’s name appeared, I clicked on it. Boy, am I glad I did! When I saw the scope and range of his experience coupled with a diverse clientele, I knew I had to contact him.
After taking the time to review the galleries on his website, I was amazed! I remember thinking, “That’s exactly what I want!” The deal was off to an amazing start when I called him, and he actually answered! He was very calm, cool, and collected—not pushy at all. I remember he asked me what my vision/motivation was. That was good because it made me focus on what I wanted as well. When I discovered he was a local photographer who offered the total package, so I could concentrate on the shoot without having to run all over the place, I was sold! His fees were affordable, too.
The actual photo session was a blast! Literally! The day of the photo shoot was much colder and wetter than any of us had anticipated, yet his staff remained positive and catered to my every need. Really! I appreciated having someone to hold my coat and restore it to me when we were not shooting! We could see our breath quite easily when we spoke! Communication was swift and clear throughout this entire process, so nothing was left to chance. For example, I knew how much time I had at the makeup artist’s shop before I had to report for the shoot. We even knew the weather was not favorable that day. When it worsened, I was given a choice as to what I would like to do. How special is that!
The turnaround on my images was great! I liked how they were released as they were ready, for this kept me from being overwhelmed all at once. It increased my eagerness to see the next set, too! When needed, Ernesto listened to my responses and addressed them in a timely fashion.
Yes, I am completely satisfied with my photos! Everyone who has seen them gives them rave reviews! Many love the clarity, color, and quality of the images! Many describe them as classy and glamorous which is what I wanted from the start.
Everything was professional and businesslike but personable, too. When it wasn’t clear what I wanted touched up, he was patient and did everything he could to get an understanding of what I wanted. I really appreciated that!
Yes, I highly recommend Ernesto Sue Photography to anyone who wants a first-class experience while having their needs thoroughly met. Keep up the good work, Ernesto!

I want to thank Chris Lewis who did a great job assisting me with the lighting on this photoshoot, assisting Maja with coat duty and braving the cold weather. I also want to thank Shannon Sharpe who did an amazing job with the makeup, you rock.
