Teaching My Son How To Use A Camera And Posing | Raleigh, NC Photographer
So here I was sitting at home on the weekend just relaxing after a long week and here comes my son Najee expressing interest in learning how to use a camera. The only reason he was inquiring (I found out later) was because he was taking some casual images the night before and the images didn't turn out so great.
During our session I went over the four basic functions on a camera that I use, which will help get him out of auto and into manual mode. The four topics we covered were Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO and White Balance. Once he understood the basics of these four functions we moved onto working with a subject and I showed him some basic posing techniques.
Some photographers find working with a subject and posing them a bit challenging and he was no exception, which was good because I was able allow him to make mistakes and then show him how to do it correctly.
Lexi is Najee's friend and she just happen to be accompanying him on his visit, so I ask or he asked, don't recall who did, but she graciously accepted to be the willing subject of this session. She had no prep with respect to makeup, hair or wardrobe but it didn't matter as Lexi did a great job in pulling off an awesome natural look.
