One-On-One Workshop With Palani Mohan | Raleigh, North Carolina Portrait Photographer
Working with artificial light, this was the goal of the workshop. In this workshop I focused on the below topics with Palani:
- How ambient light influences the subject, composition and when to use artificial light.
- How to properly expose an image by understanding the settings on the camera and artificial light.
- Blending artificial light with ambient light.
- How to use a video light with ambient light.
I always start out my workshops by discussing specific problems the workshop attendee is facing because it helps tailor the session to solving issues they are having. Palani was facing an issue where the flash was not focusing on the subjects face, so we talked about that issue and I demonstrated how to resolve this problem by paying attention to where the light was falling specifically on the subject and fine tuning the bean of light.
In this workshop we had two awesome models Lauren Anjelica and Ashley Denton. Both were extremely patient while I worked with Palani. I never meet either of them before and it really didn't matter because we all just got along immediately. Thank you both for working through the heat and battling all the bugs during this workshop.
I want to give a big thank you to Palanli Mohan for attending this workshop. I hope you got a great deal of information and will go home to practice what you have learned.
In addition, I would also like to thank David Dixon who did an awesome job with assisting me during this workshop with lighting and everything else that I needed to help make this workshop a success.
Lastly, thank you to Wayne Wonder for capturing the BTS video of this workshop which will be released on the YouTube channel in the near future.
